It is CRUNCH time for the remaining teams in the competition, as we hit the big prize winning side, and also to sort out the top 4 seedings of the i40 CS:S Tournament. The question is will teams be holding back, or will teams be all over the place as they prepare anti-strats and/or not use any tactics. Can OX Gaming be triumphant or will VeryGames keep sweeping teams aside, we will find out over the next two nights.
Over the next two nights, there will be mayhem, carnage, banter, trash talk, and hope of getting to i40 in August, as top dogs. Who will get there & what are teams feeling right now for tonight’s matches. Here are tonight’s fixtures and a full list of tomorrow night’s fixtures & SourceTV’s for anyone who maybe interested in watching the games going on.
Lower Bracket Round 9: 7pm & 8pm
eXelon Gaming Vs fish123 (7pm)
VeryGames Vs NeCKBeARdS (8pm)
These two games are very important, semi-finals of the Lower Bracket, and whoever progresses from these two games will get into the Lower Bracket Final where they are then assured free entry into i40 along with bypassing the group stages, and a minumum seed of 4th. In the first game, it will be very close to call considering eXelon Gaming have had little trouble in the competiton, and fish123 are essentially a mix team. I would have to believe the pressure will be on eXelon to actually perform and beat fish123, so it could have a hand on what may happen in the game. Fish123 on the other hand will be an unpredictable side causing trouble on all parts of the map, and they may favour inferno with splitting and picking as Terriorists or even rushing hard. If I was to put a prediction, I would say eXelon Gaming to take it 16 – 13 over fish123.
In the second match, it is all but confirmed that VeryGames should sweep past NeCKBeARdS to get to the Lower Bracket Final, in reality, Very Games have had little to worry about in the tournament so far, and have pretty much beaten any side without losing more than 10 rounds. Lets just take a look at VeryGame’s route so far:
VeryGames 0 – 1 Fish123 (UB R2)
VeryGames 1 – 0 Damn$exy (LB R3)
VeryGames 16 – 7 haxx-eSport (LB R4)
VeryGames 16 – 4 Instincts. (LB R5)
VeryGames 16 – 8 H2k (LB R6)
VeryGames 16 – 5 FM! Toxic (LB R7)
VeryGames 16 – 6 DSRack (LB R8)
Currently no one has taken more than 8 round against VeryGames, but it doesn’t mean no team can take more than that, it is within NeCKBeARdS grasp to give VeryGames as good as they get as well. The problem I see is that in their minds, they will see it as a lost game. Counter Strike Source is all about the mind in some aspects, if you believe you can win, you tend to relax more but also pumped up more and can pull such results off, if you believe you will lose, you are usually in a ragey mood, and end up not caring soon into the game when you start losing a few rounds. It will be interesting to see if NeCKBeARdS can get rid of the mental block and play some free flowing CS:S. My prediction on this game is simple, VeryGames to win, but the score is difficult to predict, so I will go 16 – 9.
Upper Bracket FINAL: 9pm
OX-Gaming Vs The Last Resort
OX-Gaming have been a silent team thus far, quietly getting through each round by beating any opponents in their way, the problem is for this match they will be without their influencial leader GugLi who has steered his team this far. Both these teams are pretty much guarenteed 3rd seed at least, and both are already in prize winning positions. So it really depends on who wants to be in the Grand Final most and whether OX can upset a big team by reaching the final. Pez & co will certainly be aware of Ox’s weaponary avaliable to them but the question on everyone’s minds is “Will TLR actually play big?”. In recent times and previous TLR line-ups, the team has promised so much, but delivered so little on the big stage, well this is one time that the big stage can be rolled out to see whether they are men or whether they are still boys fighting in the CS:S Scene. Ox should be quietly confident, if they can keep their heads together I think they will have more than enough for TLR, but it will certainly be a close encounter. My prediction will be Ox to take it 16 – 12.
